Kallang river @ bishan-ang mo kio park

Designed with a holistic, sustainable approach in mind, the project was
conceptualised to integrate the park with the iconic Kallang River. The old
2.7km straight concrete drainage channel has been restored into a
3km long natural river that meanders through the park. River edges were bioengineered
using a mix of plants and bedding materials that stabilise slopes to prevent soil erosion and form natural habitats to enhance biodiversity of the park by 30%. Natural cleaning systems like cleansing biotopes which treat water in both the river and park are
also in place.
