Jewel @ Buangkok is a condominium development comprising of six building blocks with 616 residential units, situated near Buangkok MRT station. Tucked away from the bustling metropolitan city of Singapore, it captures a perfect balance of modernity and tranquillity, offering the holistic elements of convenience and refined quality of living. The development was conceived to offer a luxurious modern way of living. Taking advantage of the existing steep terrain, the site is carved out intentionally as stepped terraces, forming a dramatic landscape sanctuaries and modern water gardens. The development is divided into three different levels of landscape, with the insertion of water elements articulated to link the three tiers. The car park is tucked into the sloping terrain, and the environmental deck is built over it, reducing the extent of excavation works. Landscape spaces are designed to evoke a sense of order and calmness, and a series of cabin facilities are provided for the residences to encourage communal living and instilling a sense of modern living. The main axis of circulation is punctuated with water walls, vertical greeneries and water bodies to create a luxurious sense of arrival. This main circulation spine connects to the communal Clubhouse and the Cloud Sculpture, which also serves as a strong visual reference points in the development of orientation.

The buildings are all intentionally placed in the ideal North South orientation as a passive design strategy to reduce the building’s heat load. The modern aesthetics of the development is characterised by random screens which add a layer of dynamics to its regular façade. The screens are designed to be at the living or bedroom balconies in a random matrix to punctuate the elevation and act as sun shading elements. This creates a comfortable environment where the residents can sit out and enjoy the balconies.

Jewel stands out from the surrounding with an impressive forecourt and a distinctive Cloud Sculpture water feature, sited in a universal design friendly shallow water playground and wading pool. It is elevated from the roadside table giving the forecourt prominence in a welcoming gesture while maintaining a seamless visual link between the public and private realm. The deck space at the communal clubhouse forecourt becomes a spill-out space for the function room, and the gym is placed on the upper floor, gaining from unblocked views of the pool and entrance water feature. This setting allows the clubhouse to command a distinct presence from the public street.

The design addresses challenge from its inherent site constraints such as the steep terrain and the large setback requirement. These challenges present a set of the solution, which stems the evolution of a thoughtful piece of architecture. In the pursuit of crafting a modern luxurious living space, Jewel @ Buangkok ventures to amalgam aesthetics and functionality to produce a sophisticated quality product.”
