Emily Lim is the Course Chair for Diploma in Landscape Architecture (DLA), Singapore Polytechnic (SP). When working as a Horticulturist in a leisure attraction, she was curious about planting design and it motivated her to embark on formal training in Landscape Architecture. With mentors who were generous with their time and creating opportunities for her growth, Emily was exposed to all phases of the LA professional practice. In the private sector, she was exposed to a wide range of projects from niche bungalows, high-end residences, hotels, resorts to town planning locally and overseas. With her accumulated capabilities, she proceeded to teach in DLA to train competent future practitioners. Her interest in pedagogy piqued while teaching and she was inspired to obtain a Masters of Education to improve her teaching practices.
After serving in the council of Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects (SILA) for eight years, Emily was elected as Second Vice President in 2022. Now, she co-leads SILA Professional Practice Strategic Pillar and leads LA Accreditation as Chairperson. She strives to increase recognition for Landscape Architects in Singapore and works towards paving the way for the next wave of Landscape Architects to chart future chapters for SILA.
