Adrian Lai

Adrian Lai founded Meta Architecture in 2015 having returned from his training in London with two RIBA Lubetkin Prizes, a World Architecture Festival Building of the Year, a President’s Design Award and two Singapore Institute of Architects’ (SIA) Design Awards. In Singapore, he was awarded the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s (URA) Architectural Heritage Award in 2018 and the SIA Design Award for Special Projects in 2019 for his work on meticulous diagramming of the city through architecture.

He was also the Lead Curator for the Singapore Exhibition at the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2023 and Festival Director of Singapore Archifest 2024. Continuing his desire for materialising diagrams, both shows made the unseen palpable using art, text, AI, analog technology and indices.

Also an educator, appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS), External Examiner for Singapore Polytechnic’s (SP) School of Architecture and the Built Environment and Guest Critic at Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD). He has given keynote speeches at Archifest 2013 and CAADRIA 2014 on the meticulous delivery of the complex geometry at Gardens by the Bay South.

After graduating from the Architectural Association in London and the National University of Singapore. His education and practical training have taken him to London, Hong Kong and Guangzhou in China and back to Singapore. He is a registered Architect in the UK and Singapore.
