“The National Science Experiment, launched in 2015, is an initiative by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation, in collaboration with the Singapore University of Technology and Design and the Science Park Singapore. The strategic initiative aims, over several consecutive phases, to promote a greater awareness and interest in the sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among young Singaporeans, ultimately involving over 250,000 students in the primary and junior college levels.

SUTD’s involvement, under the aegis of the IDC, comprises project management, development of the experiments as well as the design of all the virtual interfaces and physical touch points required for running the experiments. The initial experiments have been completed and have proven successful in engaging the students in the full spectrum of gathering, processing and experiencing the collected data, in turn helping them gain critical insights into their environment and lifestyle and exposing them to cutting edge sensor technologies and scientific concepts such as Big Data and Analytics. A great start to a lifetime of discoveries.”
